The Juvie Three

Three boys, many problems, one chance. Gecko is the main character in my book The Juvie Three.  At age 14 his older brother Rick, Decides to force him to help him rob a video game store. Well they almost did it, but they crashed in the get- away vehicle. That sent Gecko straight to juvie, for Rick because he was of age, he went to jail.

There is no way I could relate to this, I have been in trouble believe me, but not this much. After being in juvie for a long while. A short man with long brown hair visits him. He gives him an offer not even I could turn down. A halfway house. A halfway house is a place to allow people to begin the process of reintegration with society, while still providing monitoring and support; this is generally believed to reduce the risk of recidivism or relapse when compared to a release directly into society.

Anyway, I did my research. For some reason a lot of people would rather stay in jail over a halfway house. That is odd, you have some freedom again in a halfway house but, maybe I haven’t heard the whole story. In New York City there are a lot of halfway homes. That’s where this one takes place. When gecko gets there he meets two other boys that already live in the halfway house. Along with the chaperone Mr. Douglas Healy.

Amnesia, a word which many people would fear, but Mr. Healy now has it after falling of a 3 story fire escape, he’s lucky to be alive. It’s a mediocre case but he doesn’t remember the boys are anyone, which means the boys will go back to juvie if he doesn’t remember by the time the boys counselor comes for a visit. After three weeks a gang in New York attacks the halfway home; Gecko, about to get his thought slit by a knife screams, this boosts Mr. Healy’s memory. He calls the N.Y.P.D.

So, everything turns out okay. After that, the book ended. That bothered me it was a great book with a terrible ending. If I gave this book a rating out of five stars, I would give it a four. Things that lacked were how consistent the references of people were brought up like for example “There weren’t this many charges on Al Capone.” Or “not even Mark Twain could have such great writing.” See what I mean too much and it started to irritate me. Also like I said, the ending was really horrid so that is my four stars for this book, leave a suggestion for another great book and I’ll right another great essay.
