From Ribbons To Death
Stacy is a girl from the
story “Ribbons”, she is from San Francisco. Katniss is a girl from The
Hunger Games. She is from a future North America. Yet, they have so much in
common. The sacrifices both characters face is almost intimidating to the
reader.
First, Stacy is forced to give up her dancing
for a short period of time, which is her biggest hobby. Immediately after that though, she is to follow a load of new rules. She cannot watch her favorite television shows
because her grandmother cannot understand them. She also could not run around
or make noise because Grandmother would have to rest. After she had to
sacrifice all of these favorite things, frustration grew over her; she knew she
had to carry on though.
When Katniss is forced to go
to the capital, it’s even worse. For one reason, she is forced to fight to the
death. Mainly for entertainment, which really bothers her. Throughout the story
she is stuck thinking about how she can possibly prove to the capital that she
isn’t just part of their ‘game’. She is forced to sacrifice her friends,
family, and also her hobbies, such as hunting, or trading.
The girls had their
differences: Different families, different problems, and different obstacles However, they both are set out for something
they’re not looking forward to. And there’s
no way to get around them. It’s upsetting really. But hey, that’s how sacrifice
works.
