From Ribbons To Death

From Ribbons To Death

Stacy is a girl from the story “Ribbons”, she is from San Francisco. Katniss is a girl from The Hunger Games. She is from a future North America. Yet, they have so much in common. The sacrifices both characters face is almost intimidating to the reader.

First, Stacy is forced to give up her dancing for a short period of time, which is her biggest hobby.  Immediately after that though, she is to follow a load of new rules. She cannot watch her favorite television shows because her grandmother cannot understand them. She also could not run around or make noise because Grandmother would have to rest. After she had to sacrifice all of these favorite things, frustration grew over her; she knew she had to carry on though.

When Katniss is forced to go to the capital, it’s even worse. For one reason, she is forced to fight to the death. Mainly for entertainment, which really bothers her. Throughout the story she is stuck thinking about how she can possibly prove to the capital that she isn’t just part of their ‘game’. She is forced to sacrifice her friends, family, and also her hobbies, such as hunting, or trading.

The girls had their differences: Different families, different problems, and different obstacles  However, they both are set out for something they’re not looking forward to.  And there’s no way to get around them. It’s upsetting really. But hey, that’s how sacrifice works.

Illusion...

It was a gloomy rainy day. Nothing much to do, just boredom.
Not only was I bored, I felt hot, exhausted even.
I didn’t let it bother me.
So I peered outside and noticed a break in the trees.
It didn’t appear to be raining, so for that I was very pleased.
I made my way through thick and thin,
Trying to find anything, I thought I could be slick,
Then I found myself,
Falling on trees, Ice, and garbage I fell to the ground,
Telling myself to move on, I stood from where I had fallen,
Only to find myself engulfed in hatred,
Strong winds, heavy rain. Clustered thunder, and Dark clouds
Illusion, A key concept in boredom.
Or maybe not as a wiped my eyes,
And found myself in a desert.
So my word for the day is
Illusion...

Crimson Rain

I looked up into the crimson stained skies, the sunrise had begun. Casting shadows throughout the woods, making my think my day might get better. I heard a rustle in the trees, I turned my head slowly and peered across a tree line about 20 yards ahead. That’s when I saw my golden opportunity, and big 10 point buck had walked into my line of sight. I starred and admired it for a good 5 minutes, whispered an appoligy towards the animal. I drew my gun, aimed right for the heart, and let my round fly. Luckily, I didn’t have to see the animal suffer. It didn’t run, or scream out. It accepted its fate, then laid down to die. I, of course put it out of its misery.

Dramatically, it started to drizzle. Very ironically, a phrase popped into my head. Crimson rain.

Breakeven P.O.V. Piece

Breakeven is a song by the Script that at first sight, you might believe to be an ordinary story of a breakup. Then you take another look, really study the words and you have yourself something more; like a walk on the beach and then getting swallowed up by a landshark. In the song, you can see that the relationship was getting serious. With lines such as "I've got time while she has freedom." That probably means that that he has all the time in the world to sit and think about what he used to have, while she has freedom from the old relationship even though it was a nice ride. This next line also caught my attention "I'm still awake when shes no trouble sleeping." This proves that he is still into her and obviously he was really happy in the relationship. Which leads me into my next point. I believe that there is a very logical explanation for the song title and why the boy is still hung up on the girl; The reason concists of the girl cheating on the boy. Breakeven is the song title and I guess if someone in a relationship wasn't into them enough to go head and cheat, then I guess hearts don't break even.

I also have evidence for that estimate too. With the line "She met a man that's going to put her first." Which is why I think she didn't like the way the broken-hearted guy treated her. The overall meaning of the song, cheating can ruin lives, and relationships aren't always what they seem, so take extreme caution.

Retelling of "Catching Fire"

Author's note: This is my retelling of the book "Catching Fire" the sequel  to "Hunger Games." Please leave a comment down below to tell me what I can improve on.

Katniss has won the Hunger Games, although she hasn't done it alone. She and fellow district mate Peeta, have both won. Which is against the rules of the annual Hunger Games. Now, the capitol of Panem, (Future North America) sees this as defiance. They seek revenge, but first they give Katniss a chance to fix the problem. In the attempt; she get close but fails. Now the 75th Hunger Games are coming around, and little do Katniss or Peeta know; They will fight in it. Does Katniss become victorious again? Find out if you give "Catching Fire" a chance.

Conflict Resolution for Catching Fire

Authors note: Here is my conflict resolution for Catching Fire. I worked really hard to make this a quality piece.

In the book "Catching Fire" Katniss is upset about winning the Hunger Games. Although, she should be. She cheated the capitol and now they seek revenge. Katniss has a plan though, she has to get the other 11 districts do believe that she is madly in love with her district mate Peeta. If she can do that, this whole entire mishap will be put to rest. In this book I found 2 types of conflict in this book, person vs. person. and Person vs. Society. If you wonder why it's because Katniss has to get the society to believe she loves Peeta; which isn't easy. And Person vs. Person because she has to fight some capitol guards along the way.

Cause and Effect

The big city, that’s where it happened. It was a very warm yet stormy spring day on April 24th 1999. It was St. Lukes hospital in downtown San Diego. I was born at exactly 8:34 AM. The next three years of my life would take place here.

I would say that a cause and effect of this would be, being born in a very warm climate, it took me a while to switch over to the cooler Colorado and Wisconsin weather. Also San Diego was a big city therefore moving onto smaller city's from the vivd memories of San Diego in my mind was hard.
